Hasbro Star Wars: The Black Series.

To the untrained eye, when you think of Star Wars toys, the vintage 3.5-inch figures come to mind. But there is another that is more detailed, more articulated, and much larger. The Black Series line is Hasbro’s premiere line of adult collectible figures that look as close to the real thing as possible. I wanted to take that realism and combine it with my set-making abilities to create cinematic-quality photography that, in some instances, can blur the line between what’s real and what’s a toy. A fog machine was deployed along with sand, fake plants, and mountains made from construction paper to create a realistic image without having to add visual effects in post-production. This is the way.
